XIII league champions: Mückenhof Ravens

NABBO League Champions XIII

Reporters on site wonder: is this living-dead proof that painted teams actually play better?

In a very intense Final against the skaven Spyre's Biohazards, the undead Mückenhof Ravens managed to grab a very tough 3-2 win.

After starting their first turn already behind by 1 (courtesy of Mus musculus, the one-turn-scorer from the Biohazards), the shambling hordes of the Ravens managed to equalise (1-1), right before the end of the drive, and prepared to receive the ball in the second half.

With the second half came a lot of unusual Kick-off (and weather) results - including a Pitch Invasion, but in retrospective none of those influenced any of the game play of either side: the Ravens got the ball, and with an unusual undead fast pace, scored (2-1), around turn four of the second half.
The Spyrer's set Mus musculus once again for another fast score, and the 2-2 came soon after.

With another four turns to go, the undead moved the ball up field, trying to hurt as much of the opposing players as they could (with hopes to get their hands on the "one turner", but to no success), and scored their third TD, in their last turn.
The last skaven turn would mean either a win for the Ravens or a tie, and yet another 8 turns drive (as finals cannot end in ties).

This time the story was very different, and without any rerolls left to back up his actions, the one-turn skaven Gutter Runner saw it's dodge skill painfully countered by Rudi Shaft - the "Tackle" zombi of the Ravens -. The player fell, and the score remained as it was, (3-2) giving the championship title to the Mückenhof Ravens!

A very close and hard fought final.

Hack Enslash, the star player.

Hack Enslash, the undead star player has finally joined NABBO League!

For sure not the best star player ever, but with side step, regenerate, and a fine tuned chainsaw, the undead star will no doubt have it's uses!

Team colours: Purple and White (w/ black and yellow stripe)

Coach: Necromancer Zogar the Specter

Players: Mummies, Wights, Ghouls, Zombies and Skeletons

Probably the only bloodbowl undead team with living human fans - actively cheering for them...

The Mückenhof Ravens are mostly composed of Ostermark's 2nd Halbardier Regiment troops, which had been slaughtered and revived - as his own troops - by a certain von Carstein vampire warlord, in a war that ravaged Ostermark state long ago.
As von Carstein minions, they have entered deep in the heart of the Empire in their way to siege Altdorf, only to be left inanimated in a forgotten marshland in the skirts of The Great Forest, when the vampire was finally defeated and his conjurations have been dispelled.

Later found by Zogar, these marshlands where the perfect source for not-so-fresh meat (without having to risk his neck roaming around town graveyards), and allowing him to gain much needed experience as a coach, in the arts of bloodbowl.

Despite their average league ratings, the Ravens have been an instant success of popularity amongst the people of Ostermark, mainly because they still had the uniforms and colours (or what was left of them) of the state troops they belonged to.

Although the human living fans tend to keep a very safe distance from both players and staff of the team, they always show up in their matches packed with Ravens flags and banners, cheering for the team and for all it's players who once where their great-great-...-great-grandfathers in arms!
